Some couples want the grandest Phantom available. Others want the Phantom look without paying for the newest one. The Series II sits between the two: unmistakably a Phantom, sharper than the car it replaced, and priced below the Phantom 8.
If you have decided on a Phantom and are weighing up budget and style, this is the page to read.
The Series II is the facelifted version of the modern Phantom that launched in 2003. It kept the tall grille, the long bonnet and the rear-hinged doors, but gained updated lighting, revised bumpers and a more polished finish.
The result is a car that looks cleaner and slightly more modern than the Series I, while keeping the proportions that made the Phantom famous.
Most guests can’t, and that’s worth knowing. Both are large, formal and instantly recognisable as Phantoms. The differences are in the detail: the lights, the front and rear styling and some of the interior finish.
If you’re choosing on looks alone, either will give you a classic Rolls Royce arrival. If you want the newer features and a slightly fresher look, the Series II is the better pick. Our Phantom Series I covers the earlier car.
The Series II has rear-hinged doors, so they swing open from the back edge and leave a tall, clear gap. Against white paintwork, the open door frames the person stepping out, which is why photographers like to be standing ready when it opens.
The skirt falls straight as you stand, rather than catching on the sill or the seat edge, and a morning coat stays smooth. Your chauffeur holds the door, takes the bouquet if you want a free hand, and closes it behind you.
The cabin is quiet and well finished, with a wide rear seat and plenty of legroom. Compared with the Series I, the interior finish is more polished, but the layout is the same traditional Phantom one.
If the Series I feels like the older car and the Phantom 8 is more than the budget allows, the Series II sits in the middle. You get most of the newest car’s presence at a lower price, which leaves more of the budget for the rest of the day.
It also suits second-car bookings. Many couples hire a Series II for parents or the bridal party alongside a different car for themselves.
Not sure which is best for your wedding? Tell us about your venue, passenger requirements and plans for the day, and we can help you choose.
The Phantom is long, so a narrow lane or a tight church car park may call for a drop-off a few steps from the door. We will agree the spot before the day.
Tell us the date and venue, and we will check the Series II and send you a price.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom II is a classic vintage car with distinctive styling, making it a lovely choice for couples who want a traditional feel on their wedding day. Its timeless appearance can also make a beautiful addition to your wedding photographs.
The cost depends on your wedding date, collection address, destination and hire duration. Contact Wedding Car Hire Essex with your plans for a quote based on your requirements.
Yes, every hire comes with a professional chauffeur, so you can relax and enjoy the journey to your wedding ceremony or reception.
Its vintage styling can add character to your wedding photographs, particularly if you are planning a traditional or vintage-inspired celebration. If you would like time for pictures with the car, let us know in advance so we can discuss the arrangements.
Wedding ribbons can complement the car’s classic appearance and your wedding colours. Please contact us before booking to confirm whether decorations are permitted and which options are available.
We recommend enquiring as soon as your wedding date and venue are confirmed, particularly for popular dates during the spring and summer. This gives you more time to check availability and arrange your wedding transport.

Great service
The Phantom was amazing. It had star lights in the ceiling.
We got to watch our football match in the back of the car on the 2 massive monitors.
The sound was epic.
The driver drive so smoothly like a proper chauffeur.
Best in Wedding Cars experience.
I rarely write reviews but the service provided by this company was excellent from beginning to end.
I booked the car via Drift Chat. My enquiry was immediately responded by Zee and a call in the morning secured my booking. Week before I received a confirmation call. on the day I received a text to let us know the driver is on route. Got a further text that the driver has arrived. the Red Ribbon was already on the car. the driver was immaculately dressed. Inside the car it was spot less not even a smear finger print mark. The driver drove like a professional Chauffeur. The whole experience was wonderful not forgetting chilled water bottles to drink on a very hot day.
AMAZING SERVICE. I HAVE TO RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO BOOK WITH THESE GUYS.
Guys
If you want a proper luxury and stylish Rolls Royce experience in cars and well dressed Chauffeurs who are polite and helpful, than you need to book right here !!
Cars are kept to a very high standard. Very smooth. No shakes or rattles like most others.
Chauffeurs are suited not the usual jeans and jumpers like some companies I have seen.
And also not to forget the company doesn’t over book and therefore are not in a rush to leave you stranded like some horror stories I have heard.
Thumbs up boys
Keep up the excellent work and high standards.
